Websites:
The pool will
use www.pooltracker.com to enter and keep track of entrants’ picks. The 2024 Pool # is 234263
(https://www.pooltracker.com/w/season/index.asp?poolid=234263).
This website (www.fbparipool.com) will be used for posting standings and other relevant pool
information.
Scoring:
For each game, correct picks will be awarded points using the following formula
(rounded to 2 decimal places):

Where np=# of players with no pick if more people picked the winning
team and zero (0) if less people picked the winning team. The maximum points
that can be awarded in a single game is 15.00 points.
An entrant's score for a payout period will be the total points awarded for all
games combined for that period.
Note - the formula is considered a type of Pari-Mutuel scoring, hence the name of the pool being the Pari-Mania
Football Pool.
Scoring
Examples:
20 entrants, 15 entrants correct ->1 + (20 + 2)/(15 +1) = 2.38 points
25 entrants, 5 entrants correct ->1 + (25 + 2)/(5 + 1) = 5.50 points
30 entrants, 12 entrants correct -> 1 + (30 + 2)/(12 + 1) = 3.46 points
(click here for full table of points with 25-35 entrants)
Overall Scores:
Overall scores will be the combined scores from all 20 payout periods.
Bonus Scores:
Bonus scores will be the combined scores from the following payout periods
PP 2-6
PP 7-11
PP 12-16
PP 17-19 +
College Bowls + NFL Playoffs
(The pool starts
with the first week of NFL games which is titled Week 2 on Pooltracker since
Week 1 is a week when only college games are played)
Additionally,
the highest combined score(s) for all 20 payout periods for college games only
will win money, the highest combined score(s) for all 20 payout periods for NFL
games only will win money and the most number of games picked correctly (not
using the scoring system, just correct picks) will win money.
Games:
In a given payout period, all NFL games plus college games involving Top 25
ranked teams will be picked by each entrant (however, bowl games will count
separately - see payout period section below).
For college bowl
games, all games will be picked regardless of whether either team is ranked or
not.
All games must
be picked. Any game not picked will be counted as an incorrect pick.
Entrants should
make picks for all games posted on Pooltracker even if a game should not be
included (ie. neither team is ranked in a college game). All games posted on
Pooltracker will count.
If a game that
should be included by Pooltracker, but is not listed, the game will not be used
since entrants will not have the opportunity to pick the game through
Pooltracker.
Weekly Pick
Deadline:
The deadline for picks each week is noon ET on Saturdays. Any game with a start
time before noon ET on Saturday will have a deadline of the scheduled kickoff
time for that game. Be aware that every NFL week now has a Thursday night game
and there are often college games played on weeknights. During the NFL Playoffs,
the deadline will be adjusted to the time of the first game played each
weekend.
Picks may be
made by phone (610-283-8787) or email (kyle.matschke@gmail.com) if necessary, but the same deadline rule will be applied to
the timestamp of the email or phone call. No exceptions, so don’t wait until
the last minute.
Default Picks:
There will be no default picks for any game not picked by an entrant. It will
be counted as an incorrect pick. For the purposes of calculating how many
points a game is worth, the missed pick will be treated as if the entrant
selected the favorite (ie. the team that was picked most within the pool). In
cases where both teams were picked by the same number of people, the home team
will be used as the pick for the calculation.
Payout Periods:
There will be a total of 20 payout periods (the site shows 23 periods, but some
periods are combined and we will not use the first week of college games - pool
starts Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024)
The 18 Weeks of the NFL season will each be a separate payout period.
All college bowl games will be combined as a payout period.
All NFL playoff games will be combined as a payout period.
Periods will start on Tuesdays and end on Mondays (barring exceptions in the postponed/rescheduled
games section)
Postponed/Rescheduled Games:
If a game is postponed, and it is rescheduled within 6 days of the original
date, the game will count towards the original payout period it was scheduled
in.
If a game is
postponed, and it is rescheduled more than 6 days after the original date, it
will count towards the payout period it ends up being played in if it still
qualifies as a game that should be picked (ie. NFL game or the game still
involves a Top 25 college team).
Payouts:
$125 per entry to get in the pool (only 1 entry per person will be allowed)
$4.75 per entry
per payout period will go toward each Period Prize Pool
$15 per entry will go towards the Season Total Prize Pool
$15 per entry
will go towards the Bonus Prize Pool

Ties:
Total points for
the last game listed on pooltracker.com will be used to determine breaking of
ties for weekly prizes. If still tied, those entrants will split the prize.
Season Total and Bonus prizes will have no tie-breaker and split the prize.
Results and Standings:
www.pooltracker.com will be used to keep track of entrants' picks, but due to the
format of the scoring, the standings for each payout period and overall
standings will be kept track of outside of the website.
Go to www.fbparipool.com where you can find links to individual payout period standings,
overall standings and winnings.
Depending on my
availability, I will update standings as games become final. Typically,
standings will be finalized after the MNF game is completed, but at the latest
they should be finalized on Tuesday nights. I post on the www.fbparipool.com website when you can expect results to be updated throughout
the weekend. Sometimes things come up and I’m not able to make the updates when
I say I will, but I will do my best to update them at those times.
If a mistake is
noticed in the scoring or standings by anyone, PLEASE inform me ASAP. Nothing
will be considered completely final until the end of the year, so if an error
from Week 2 isn’t noticed until Week 10, the correction will still be made. My
intention is to have the correct entrants win because they earned it, not
because someone got lucky with a mistake that wasn’t noticed by a certain time.
Pool Fee Payment and Winnings Payments:
$125 per entry to get in the pool (only 1 entry per person will be allowed)
Payment must be
received (or postmarked if sent by mail) by noon on the Saturday after the
first Thursday Night Football NFL game or you will be dropped from the pool.
Winnings will be
paid out all at once at the end of the year.
Fees will be
accepted in person, by mail or Venmo (@kyle-matschke).
Other Rules:
The above rules are an attempt to cover the intended rules as thoroughly as
possible. If an unforeseen event occurs that the rules do not cover, I will
make every effort to make a fair ruling and/or come up with a reasonable
solution that is in the best interest of everyone involved in the pool.
If anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask.
